Salad

We are so lucky that the fire ants have not attacked our class garden even though there are ant mounds in and around our bed.
Friday we harvested our red lettuce, green onions, romaine lettuce, and a few more strawberries for a yummy salad.
We washed and dried our lettuce and then cut the lettuce and onions up. Next we tried the lettuce plain. Ask your child for their opinion of plain lettuce. After taste testing we mixed together a homemade salad dressing. We squeezed  two lemons, added some extra virgin olive oil and a little salt and pepper. My secret ingredient is secret so ask your child what secret (sweet) ingredient was added next to our dressing.
We mixed our lettuce and onions into our dressing and served our salads. Some were hesitant but everyone tasted and majority of the class wanted more. I did add some crainberries in the salad for a sweet taste to help the bitterness from the lemon juice and lettuce. We enjoyed a handful of carrots with our salad. Yummy!
Clean plate club! Now hopefully they will eat more salads because they enjoyed this one. Trying something new can be good for you. Eat healthy and you feel better:)
